∙ 14y agoThe British had three main leaders in the Revolutionary War. General Gage started off in Boston. Then General Howe took over. Finally General Clinton became the top General. Clinton was an excellent field commander but preferred the life of leisure in New York City. General George Washington was the Commander and Chief of the American forces throughout the war with a brief exception of a period when congress made General Gage the Commander and Chief of the southern theater.
