The Jews were transported by train in boxcars, and it was dark and packed full. Also, many died due to starvation, thirst and weather conditions.

_________

They were transported by slow freight trains, with no breaks for food or water and only one bucket per cattle truck for sanitation. The journey often took 3-4 days or longer. They were packed tightly. In winter it was bitterly cold; in summer it was often very hot. On arrival at the camp, some of the victims were already dead. Occasionally, some corpses got left in the cattle trucks ... There are documents still in existence in which the German railways (Deutsche Reichsbahn) sent bills to the SS for having to arrange funerals for these!

___________

There is no list of names. Jews in territory under Nazi control were either:

Shot in mass open-air shootings or sent to extermination camps where they were usually gassed soon after arrival or sent to 'ordinary' concentration camps, where most of them were worked to death on grossly inadequate food.

Prisoners were often transported in inhumane conditions by rail freight cars, in which many died before reaching their destination. The prisoners were confined to the rail cars, often for days or weeks, without food or water. Many died of dehydration in the intense heat of summer or froze to death in winter. Concentration camps also existed in Germany itself, and while they were not specifically designed for systematic extermination, many of their prisoners perished because of harsh conditions or were executed. Sometimes Jews were even forced to walk miles to reach the concentration camp, no matter how the weather was like with no food or water.

Jews were forced out of their homes and made to walk to train stations (some not all) and were forced onto the trains which led them to the camps. Or, they were forced to walk long distances to get there.
