Produced by Don Law and Frank Jones Grady Martin was also present during the recording of Don't Worry, it was his guitar plus a technical glitch that made the famous sound of that song.
As far as I can remember, his drummer was Bill Martinez, Steel guitar was Katz Kobiashi (not sure of spelling), Guitarist was Jack Pruett (Jeannie Pruett's ex) and of course his back up singers were Don Winters and Bobby Sykes. In his early years, Tompall and the Glasers did backup for a short time on his records.
His road drummer was at one time Eddie Fox.

I believe Katz Kobayashi was a member of Joe Ymanaka and Flower Travelling Band in Japan. I met him on Grand Ole Opry with Marty Robbins and he made me to meet him on back stage. We are on honey-moon in '78. RIP Katz.

Interesting question and perhaps a controversial answer. Marty Robbins wrote "Pretty Words" However a cajun steel guitar player names Jules Angelle Lamparez alias Papa Cairo claims that Marty pillfered the song from his own composition, "You Just Wait And See" changing it to "Pretty Words". Marty had played with Cairo in the Chuck Guillory band and knew all their material, says Cairo. You can google for more information.
He was living in Dayton TN around the late 90's which is about the time he retired from the Grand Ole Opry staff band.

One of his band members got drunk and went to get a tattoo. Marty went to talk the fella out of it. An altercation ensued and Marty was knocked out in the parking lot. His band member (former) dragged him into the tattoo parlor and had a large duroc pig tattooed onto Marty's throat. Both the band member and tattoo artist fled to Belize afterward and Marty was left with the decoration. He's worn the scarf ever since.
