Who were the nations and allies involved in World War I?
The main nations at war were:
Germany, Austria-Hungary and The Ottoman Empire (Triple Alliance)
France, Russia and England (Triple Entente)
Italy joined the allies in 1915 and America joined in 1917 and served only eight months in the war. Russia exited the War in late 1917, due to civil war.
During the course of World War II, most of the world's modernized nations became embroiled in the titanic struggle between the Allies and the Axis Powers, along with many other nations around the globe. Several large European nations that managed to avoid outright hostilities (although they were sometimes involved in non-combative roles) were Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Ireland, and Switzerland.
In speaking about World War One allies, France and England stand out as they were in that war from 1914 to its end in 1918. Allies expected Germany to pay war reparations, and give up foreign colonies based on the Treaty of Versailles. The US and other nations were also "allies" , however in Europe, the aforementioned nations stand out more than others.
Because of how the system of allies was, if one country declared war on another, the allies of both countries would join the war as well, to support their allies. This led to a chain event during World War I. Many countries simply got involved because they were allies with another country and had promised to defend them. Example: Austria and Serbia had been the first to go to war. Germany joined soon for it…
During World War II, the Allies helped occupied nations in Western Europe by providing behind-the-lines military assistance of all kinds; later, their direct invasion of the Continent liberated these same nations. After the war, the Allies (especially the United States) provided massive material and humanitarian aid for the rebuilding of these nations.
The answer is more to what degree were nations involved. There were the nations that were fully involved in the Axis (Germany, Italy, Japan) or the Allies (Britian, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand), and the occupied countries (France, Belgium, Holland, Norway, Morocco, Egypt, Burma, China, Philippines), and even neutral countries who were involved, (Sweden, Switzerland) because they acted as intermediaries for banking and humanitarian needs. Countries allied or historically tied to nations at war were…
Obviously the Axis Powers were not allies with the Brits, Americans and Russians and other allies. These were some of those countries: Japan, Germany, Italy, Thailand, and other countries. The Neutral countries of Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Ireland and Switzerland were not allies. Most of South America, most of the African Nations and many of the Middle Eastern nations were not allies with the US in World War 2,
