Fantasy with science-fiction overtones. the author, who was a regular air pilot and officer in the French Air Arm, did NOT write any other science-fiction novels though he did a number of tales dealing with aviation- they were not sci-fi about future developments.

A science-fiction story by the French airman turned writer, Saint-Exuperby. It is basically about a French Airman, downed in North Africa, who encounters a male being from a U.F.O. who hails from a planet called Asteroid ( in some versions it is Planet) B-6l2) the number comes from an insect repellent that is skin-safe! In many ways it is very similar to the initial premise of I Dream of Jeannie. Astronaut- who is a military pilot- downed on a desert island, finds strange shaped bottle- opens it up, and out pops Jeannie! Both are fantasy but have technic tie-ins. I go the idea that Saint Exuperby was well, Third way type- wouldn't ( la Petite Princesse) found in the Desert ( a la Cleopatra, Sheba, that type of character!) be more natural to the Frenchman"s mind processes than a small male? Maybe the guy had this idea but figured it would draw flak from the censors, suggesting inter- well, planetary love! Venus and Mars make strange bedfellows. Major Nelson ,don"t open that Urn!
