Why is Puerto Rico considered a hispanic country?

All Puerto Ricans are American Citizens. Now, because Puerto Ricans speak Spanish they are considered also Latin Americans. Also not only are they considered Latin Americans but Puerto Rico was once a part of the united states.

On July 25, 1898, during the Spanish-American War, Puerto Rico was invaded by the United States. As an outcome of the war, Spain ceded Puerto Rico (along with Cuba, the Philippines, and Guam). From that point on, although Puerto Rico was an US colony, Puerto Ricans were not considered citizens of the United States. Because Puerto Ricans were classified as aliens they were ineligible for the draft. The United States entered WWI in 1917 and needed all the man power they could use. On March 2, 1917 the Jones-Shafroth Act was signed granting the US citizenship to all citizens of Puerto Rico. It allowed conscription to be extended to the island, which sent 20,000 soldiers to the U.S. Army during the war.

When Spain turned over this Island to the US when it lost the war and signed it off at Paris. After 500 hundred years of Spanish governing rule come to a end. Because they are a multi-race country. We know that hispanic/Latino are not races. Puerto rican can be a mixture of three races of people. Native American,spanish,french,italian etc..(white)and African (side note: for further study research las gracias de maria to understand the other europeans settling in puerto rico and cuba.) . Same with dominicans, Mexicans, Cubans. The country side people are more of Spanish and Native desent because of the land ownership and families were encouraged to settle with there families from spain, this is the backbone of the country peasantry it was legal to marry Natives but not legal to marry african slaves (although of course interbreeding happened anyways but not as prevalent) because of slavery africans were brought and settled in coastal areas that is were the big farming of sugar cane and big agro production was. in the 19th century with the abolition of slavery gone intermarriage was legal and remains legal to this day. one just needs to study DNA and Understand that this is accurate. DNA studies have shown that Native american Dna is more prevalent in the population then was once believed. (also there is a Problem for the US Federal Laws and people of native american descent and sacred land ownership, they have always wanted to suppress this fact.) The Jibaros ( countryside peasantry class) is Mostly Southern Spanish (Canary Islands and Andalusia) and Native american and African being last. In coastal areas the african ratio is definitely higher and is where the most but not all people of african descent come from. This explanation goes further of course.
