How do you turn passenger side air bag off in 1999 ford focus so i can have baby car seat in front seat?

Put the infant seat in the back seat of the car and not in the front. Children should ride properly restrained in the back seat whenever possible. Children are much safer (approximately 29 percent) the farther they are from the point of impact -- most commonly a frontal crash. The seat should be installed facing backward. I cannot think of a good reason for you to put the child in the front seat, unless possibly you have other children, and think this is the best route to go. If that is the case, then place the largest child in the front seat with the seat pulled back as far as possible. Put the infant in the rear. You can have a passenger side air bag disconnect switch installed by a professional with permission from the NHTSA. Go to www.nhtsa.gov for more information.

Can a four year old sit in the front seat of a two seater car?

There is no law stating that a child has to ride in the rear seat of a vehicle. For safety reasons, it is better for a child to ride in the rear seat due to the fact of many recorded deaths involving children and airbags.

Why a backward facing car seat is safer for an infant a forward facing car seat during a collision or abrupt stop?

Its safer for the seat to be facing backwards, because during a collision or an abrupt stop the infant would not be able to slip out of the car seat, and also so the infant will not choke on the car seat's seat belt. It is also safer to have an infant/child to be sitting in the back seat and not in the front passenger seat until the recommended age.

What is the safety restrictions for children under the age of 12 riding in a car?

In Ontario (Canada) the law states that under the age of 12 or under a specific weight (?), the child must be in the back seat, due to Air bags. My 2cents: It is also safer for kids to be in the back seat, in the event of an accident, they are protected by the back of the front seat, rather than hitting the dashboard or windshield.
