Sometimes a material is too large to cross the membrane. Cells can use energy to transport these materials in vesicles. A cell uses ENDOCYSTOSI to take in large material or liquids. EXOCYTOSIS is the opposite of endocytosis. It is the process that moves substances that need to be removed. The vesicle then goes to the cell membrane, fuses with it and lets go of the content

Think of a cell as a house with a yard surrounded by a fence. In order to get things that the cell needs, it has to open the gate on the fence to allow things in, just like you would need to do when you bring in groceries. This would be an example of active transport. If the wind blew it in through the chain links or the pickets, that would be passive transport. Just reverse this analogy for exocytosis.

It is used by all cells of the body because most substances important to them are large polar molecules that cannot pass through the hydrophobic plasma membrane or cell membrane.

Into: endocytosis Out: exocytosis

How do you use exocytosis in a sentence?

Endocytosis is an energy using process by which cells absorb molecules by engulfing them. "The process of endocytosis happens within cells. "

What are some circumstances in which cells use exocytosis?

A cell will use exocytosis to remove waste from it. Cells use endocytosis to allow things in such as food.

What is a type of active transport?

There are three types of active transport. They are endocytosis, exocytosis, and sodium potassium pump. Endocytosis is when the cells ingest substances. Exocytosis is the process of releasing contents of the cell to the external environment.
