Insects play a great role in keeping flowers' population enormous. When an insect (bee, wasp, fly...) lands on the flower, either to suck the nectar or to eat it, it carries a bit of male reproduction cells. When it lands on another flower, some of the male sperm cells stick to the pistil(female reproduction part in a flower) and enter the ovary. Here they meet the female egg cells. this will produce seeds and soon new flowers and plants.
