Nerve cells are so long and branched out because they need more surface area to pass out the signals.
They are long and Branching because they have to get all over your body, and to do that they must be long and branched to reach other cells. Also the cells are like a highway so the have to branch of to go to different places.

∙ 13y agoThey are not nervous in the sense like we would say about a person. A cell cannot have emotions such as anxiety or nervousness. What a nervous cell means is that it's part of the nervous system, which includes all the nerves in the your body, brain stem, and brain. Without the nervous system, we could not function because there would be nothing to tell the rest of our body how to work.
