∙ 8y agoAll living organisms require energy. Plants capture energy from the sun, through photosynthesis. Plants are eaten by organisms, who may, themselves be eaten. This is a simple view of the food chain which transmits solar energy to all organisms. Without plants to capture the sun's energy, the whole chain would collapse.
