acids are generally polar covalent compounds of hydrogen and non-metallic,acidic radicals.on dissolving in water they ionise to give various ions which help in conducting electricity.thus they become good electrolytes

A strong acid dissociates almost completely in solution, that is to say the solution is ionic particles charged either positively, or negatively. This allows an electric current to pass strongly through this solution making it a strong electrolyte.

Strong acids and bases dissociate greatly when dissolved in water. The greater the dissociation constant Kd the more conductive of electricity.

Are string acids strong electrolytes?

If you mean strong acids then yes, strong acids are strong electrolytes.

Why is a solution of a strong acid a good conductor of electricity?

Strong acids are good conductors of electricity because they are strong electrolytes, which means they ionize more completely, therefore strong electrolytes are good conductors of electricity.

Are strong acids poor electrolytes?

All acids and bases are electrolytes. However, the strong acids or bases are strong electrolytes, and the weak acids or bases are weak electrolytes. Electrolytes are substances, that when dissolved in water, produce ions capable of conducting electricity. Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is a strong base, and strong electrolyte. Hydrogen bromide is a strong acid, and also a strong electrolyte. Ionic compounds generally form good electrolytes because they completely ionize when dissolved in water, and can then conduct electricity. Gatorade can be marketed as an "electrolyte containing beverage" because when the ionic salt, NaCl (table salt) or KCl, is added to water, it ionizes into Na+ and Cl-, which then are able to conduct electricity. Pure water is a very weak base, and bad conductor of electricity; there aren't enough free ions to carry a charge. We need electrolytes for conduction of nerve impulses, which are electrical. The reason why we even consume sports drinks is because we lose ionic salts in our sweat. Loss of too much salt through perspiration, and intake of too much pure water, diminishes our ability to conduct nerve impulses - which results in cramping, fatigue, and in extreme cases, death. In short, sports drinks are, without sugar and flavoring, just water with small amounts of different salts thrown in - and acids and bases are electrolytes.

How strong are the electrolytes in lemons?

There are strong electrolytes and weak and non electrolytes. There is no very strong, or pretty strong, electrolytes. If they are strong, they are strong. So, in lemons, you have salts which are strong electrolytes, and you have citric acid, which is a weak electrolyte.

Does semen have electrolytes?

Electrolytes are the solutions of salts, acids and bases and semen has numerous electrolytes. They include both acids and salts.

What types o f compounds are considered as strong eletrlytes?

A strong electrolyte is a substance that ionizes completely or about 100% in an aqueous environment. Examples of strong electrolytes are neutral salts, such as NaCl, KCl, KBr, and LiCl. Strong acids and bases are also strong electrolytes, including HCl, HBr, HI, H2S04, NaOH, KOH, and LiOH.

What property do strong acids have?

They are highly corrosive in nature and dissociate extensively in solutions. They behave as good electrolytes.

Why are Arrhenius acids strong electrolytes?

Because they dissociate completely in water to produce H+ ions in solution.
