First of all it's "The Beatles", and they were so good because they changed the face of music. They were the first and only band to my knowledge to have four people who can sing vocals and play different instruments. That's why they were so good because they were able to use different instruments and use different vocals to fit that song so it sounded amazing. Plus back then bands made money by going on tour to promote their album so people would by them. The beatles were so famous already by the time they came to the U.S. that in 1966 they stopped touring and over the next 4 years they became a studio band. All they did was focus on their music they didn't have to go on tour because they were so big already. They were the first band to experiment by mixing tapes and using an orchestra in their studio. Check out the Sgt. Peppers album they do all of that in that album, that's my favorite album by the Beatles.

It's partly the time of their appearance; in 1963, the "baby boomer" generation were teenagers and as a consequence, the Beatles had a huge fan base - most of whom are still alive and remember the 1960s as a decade of enormous social changes.

Another part is they were so good; they're songs were good and they exercised a tremendous work effort into making the recordings as good as possible.

The Beatles are so legendary because they created a whole generation of new, beautiful music that enthralled millions of people across the world. Most important was there was no hatred, bias or disrespect in their music. The focus was usually love and friendship.
