because it does not have all the characteristics of life. yes it may have nucleic acids giving it the ability to reproduce but that is it. it does not have movement, excretion, respiration, nutrition, and growth.

Viruses do not belong to any kingdom and don't contain any cells. Therefore, they are considered nonliving.

In addition, viruses do not have the characteristics of life. It cannot respond to a stimulus. It cannot grow and develop. It cannot adapt to the environment. The only way to reproduce is to do it inside a host cell and cannot independently reproduce.

Viruses are not considered to be living organisms because they do not have the characteristics of living organisms. They must hijack the host cell and take over the hosts' cell DNA. They then direct the host DNA to make virus genetic material, assemble the virus parts and then burst out of the cell to infect more host cells.

Viruses are not referred alive because they lack many characteristics associated with living organisms. Viruses lack the ability to reproduce without the aid of another cell to infect. Furthermore, viruses don't divide or replicate like the typical cells.

Some scientists think they should be classified as life forms and others do not. Those who think they are not base this on the fact that a virus cannot reproduce outside of a living host cell.

They do NONE of the things that living cells do. They do not breathe, eat, or reproduce.

Which component of a virus is lacking in a cell?

Both a living cell and a virus contain nucleic acid. The virus has a capsid, whereas a living cell does not.

What do a virus and a living cell have in common?

Viruses cannot reproduce. They use a living cell to replicate themselves. When a virus infects a living cell, it injects its genetic material (DNA or RNA) into the cell. The virus' genetic material takes control of the cell and turns it into a virus factory. The cell does nothing but manufacture and assemble virus parts until eventually the cell ruptures and the new viruses erupt and go on to infect more cells.

What would happen to a virus that never came in contact with a living cell-?

Since a virus can only replicate on a living cell, host cell, it wouldn't be able to reproduce.

How does a host living cell face with an enemy virus?

A virus and a cell have to have matching "docking" proteins for the virus to invade. Otherwise the virus is blocked.

What cell comes in a fundamental living matter and come in two forms?

DNA is the fundamental living matter. A virus, considered to be a living matter consists of core of DNA. When this virus invades a Bacterial cell, it forms the Bacteriophase.DNA is the fundamental living matter. A virus, considered to be a living matter consists of core of DNA. What provides energy for an virus?

A virus does not have a metabolism. To reproduce, a virus takes control of a living cell, forcing the cell to make copies of the virus. All energy is provided by the cell.

What is outside a living cell virus?

faeces

What process do viruses reproduce?

A virus cannot reinvent itself without the help of a 'hosts' living cell. Once the virus invades the living cell it takes over the mechanism of reproduction using the cells enzymes and other chemical to reproduce. Therefore a virus cannot reproduce independently. Once the host cell is compromised the virus is free to infect other cells in the living organism.

Do viruses only reproduce within one cell?

Virus cannot replicate themselves. They should enter a living cell

How do viruses get into bacterial cell?

A virus has proteins on its capsid that bind to living host cell. Once the virus has attached it enters the cell or inserts DNA/RNA into the cell.

How is virus like a cell?

A virus is not similar to a cell, although it requires a host cell to reproduce. The only thing in common that a virus has to a cell is it has DNA.

Once a virus has entered a living cell what does it force the cell to do?

It turns the cells that infects into factories that produce more of the same virus.
