Zoos help research, by seeing, and recording how animals react, their behavior to new and different stimuli. How they live, teaches people stuff that is impossible to see just by glancing. They offer the chance to study and watch species over long periods of time, even for generations, to see social behavior, herding mannerisms, feeding behavior in families, and other areas of study that need long term exposure to the species.
