It depends on the format of the animation. Windows Movie Maker can import the following Picture formats:
.bmp, .dib, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff, .wmf
If your animation is not one of those listed above, you will need to convert it to one before it can be imported into the program.
Pivot creations are a prime example of a format not compatible with Windows Movie Maker. Pivot animations must be converted (Saved As) .gifs before they can be imported and edited.
