It is very possible that you have an air pocket in the heater core. Fill the radiator to the top and 1/2 fill the coolant recovery tank. Run the engine until the cooling fan comes on then let it cool down. Recheck the radiator and top it and the reservior off. It may take a couple of times to purge the air.
