They are currently working on something like halo wars, but not halo, called aerospace. It sucks right? And 343 industries, who helped make the halo games, is actually in charge of making another halo game, so there is a chance they will make another halo game. :D

Why is bungie leaving halo?
Bungie no longer has the rights to distribute any halo games. Now 343 Studios will be making the halos, which is unfortunate because Bungie has been known for successful video games. But 343 Studios also has some Bungie Senior Staff to help make the next halo. But Bungie just does not want to keep making halo for money. Microsoft is the culprit here. Bungie makes it for people to enjoy and remember the halo series. So Now Bungie has nothing to do with halo anymore as of now. So all the games halo reach and before are in the past. The new games may or may not be the same.

Bungie, in fact, has a long history of great games, starting with Pathways into darkness and the Marathon trilogy for the MAC back in the 1990s. I sure that after halo, they will continue to make great games.

What i heard is that infinity ward made Bungie sign a contract saying Bungie cant make anymore halo games after halo reach, unless they make the next halo game for every game console not only the Xbox 360. I also just recently checked the Bungie website and looked that they were now hiring people for PS3, so they might make another halo game for every console. Another thing that i heard was that SaberINteractive was making a Halo Combat Evolved Remake. But overall you still never know.

Why did bungie stop making halo?
When Microsoft bought Bungie they also bought Halo, and so when Bungie split from Microsoft they no longer had the rights to make the games. But Microsoft still wanted Halo games so they had Bungie make Halo 3, ODST and Reach, this is also the reason why Ensemble Studios was allowed to make Halo Wars, Microsoft 'chose' them to make a Halo game. Now Bungie are done with Halo and are working on a new IP for Activision, but again, Microsoft still wants more Halo games, so they created 343 Industries to hold the responsibility of future Halo projects.
