Well, the real question you should ask is why SHOULDN'T you wake a sleep walker. So the answer to that question is because it scares and confuses them... really bad. And I can say that from personal experience. (I'm a sleepwalker) My sister woke me up one time (she slapped me :-D) and it really scared me and I was really confused. I was wondering what was going on and why she slapped me. So instead of waking them up, just simply guide them back to their beds and tell them about it in the morning. :-D

This is a fallacy. You can wake up a sleepwalker. They will talk to you and respond to what you say to them. My husband sleepwalks and I tell him to come back to bed when he does it.
