first off, animals can be stuck on a certain continent/continents because they are not capable of travleing to another continent. The cause of this can be due to length of travel or incapability of traveling over seas. Another reason can be enviromental issues. A polar bear cannot survive in the Sahara desert since the enviroment does not offer the right kind of food or climate. Many animals are not adapted to certain climates because they do not need to get used to harsh conditions they do not exist in. I'm quite sure most animals are happy with the conditions of their enviroment. The few times animals will travel great distances is when they do require different conditions. Ex: mating, water shortages, weather, food supply, territory. A better known form of this is when birds fly South for the winter. They do this because they are not used to the cold weather coming over their former enviroment. This is known as migration. Migration is when a large group of animals travel into a different area consistently, just like the birds going South every winter. So I hope this helped you out! :)
