I am not a doctor, but my understanding is that these are two different phases of the same illness. HIV means that one has the virus that causes AIDS but that it has not progressed to AIDS; with appropriate drug therapy, people who are HIV-positive can remain healthy for years. However, once the disease progresses to AIDS, the immune system is severely compromised and the person has little or no defense against a variety of infections. Once the patient contracts one or more of these infections, such as cancer or pneumonia, they are not able to fight off the infection.
AIDs affects a person's ability to fight infection and disease. The illness interferes with the immune system making people with AIDS much more likely to get infections, including opportunistic infections and tumors that do not affect people with working immune systems. This susceptibility gets worse as the disease continues.
Because the virus is latent. HIV has 3 enzymes, namely, integrase, RT and protease. Integrase integrates the viral DNA (formed from RT: single stranded RNA -> dsDNA) into the host. But since the virus is latent the viral peptides don't get produced. But when activated it does get produced, and viruses destroy T cells via cell lysis.
AIDS is when T cell count is below 200
HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. Hence, HIV in the virus and AIDS is the disease that results from the virus.
AIDS is what you get when you have the HIV virus, its the next stage of the virus and that will kill you so once you get AIDS that's it, there is no cure and no treatment for AIDS. There is treatment for HIV and Magic Johnson is the first person that i have ever heard of that announced that he had the HIV virus 15 years ago and never got AIDS but he took these drugs and it stopped him from getting AIDS but he will always have the HIV virus.
AIDS is a syndrome. HIV is the virus that causes AIDS.
aids is an hiv: human immunodeficiency virus. and hiv is an std.
The HIV virus causes AIDS. HIV stand for Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
the name given to the AIDS virus is HIV.
HIV is a virus; AIDS is a disease.
The difference between HIV and AIDS is that HIV is the virus that causes the disease AIDS. You can be a carrier of the HIV virus and not contract the disease but you can infect others.
HIV is a virus.
HIV- Human Immunodeficiency Virus *HIV is not a pathogenic organism, but a virus. To be an organism it must be able to replicate on its own, which it cannot. It needs a host to do so.
HIV is the virus. AIDS is the disease caused by the virus. (So HIV is not actually a disease per se.) As an analogue - the H1N1 virus can cause the flu.
Yes it is true. Because there are two types of HIV. HIV 1 and HIV 2. HIV 1 and HIV 2 can never affect this people because they have different jeans. They may have the virus in them but it will never harm them but will harm you as HIV and aids terms are applied..
