Why capacitor banks are not recommend with generator sets?
A generator is a highly inductive device with low resistance. Capacitors are, well, capacitive. when you have an inductor near a capacitor, you can get ringing.
This is known as ferroresonance. The capacitance and inductance form an LC tank circuit, which causes excessive overvoltages. Generators are typically high impedance grounded, which contributes to ferroresonance issues.
The desired power factor value is 1. The PF is closest to 1 if the load is pure resistive. In an industry, the load is mix of resistive and inductive, more so largely inductive, the power factor tends to be less then 1 , lagging, which is not desirable. if a motor has 2 speeds it has two sets of windings 2 poles and 4 poles for full and half speed the capacitor sets up the rotating field for starting split phase refers to the percentage of the winding dedicated to the capacitor for the rotating field and it can be done entirely with inductance but that does involve a lot more wire

Actually safety devices of generator depends on the type of prime mover used in generator. The main safety devices in a DG Set is to control the over speed, to limit the fuel supply in case of emergency. It is regulated by the governor of the DG Sets. In external safety, over voltage & over current tripping relay i.e. associated with DG Sets control panel.
A chinese diesel generator is the combination of a diesel engine with an electrical generator (often called an alternator) to generate electric energy.
