Colonists begin to boycott.
In an effort to make colonists cease to boycott the Townshend Act Parliament had imposed, Britain sent warships to New England. The colonists rebelled by burning a tax man in effigy, and engaging in an altercation that led to the Boston Massacre.
The colonists trained and fought back. They warned the British along the way, and threatened the British by making a life sized replica of the local stamp man. They hung it from a tree and chanted: What a greater joy shall New England see, than a British stamp man, hanging from a tree? They eventually won over the British.
