Why did Canada declare war on Germany in World War 2?

Because Canadians believed that they still had some ties with Britain and it was right to fight by their side even though Canada had some independent rights.

Quite the opposite, the US did not declare war on Germany, but Germany declared war on them. They did this to honor their alliance with Japan after the Pearl Harbor attacks.

Since Canada was part of Dominions of the British Empire, when Great Britain declared war on Germany, Canada was automatically called By GB to fight on her behalf. GB declared war on Germany on 4th August 1914 while Canada was informed to fight on the 5th August 1914.

The United States was bombed by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor which cause a declaration of war but Germany had an alliance with Japan and it had forced the United States to declare war on Germany too. Then Germany had an alliance with Italy which cause the United States to declare war on yet another country. Then the world was at war and therefore World War 2 started.
