That is why Christopher Nolan has been hired as executive producer for the Superman reboot and Zack Snyder has been hired as the director because they think he can get it done just right with the little time they have to get it into production before the heirs of Siegel and Shuster take all the rights for the character away.

Christopher Reeve did not really want to return for a fourth Superman movie- but the new producers let him decide what would be the message in the story.
