Many historians, (and myself) believe that Hitler was abused as a child, resulting in a lack of self-esteem, and a need to have power over others, as his abuser did over him. He most likely felt that since he was taught to hate himself, he had to create an entire race that looked much different from him to have complete power over. I recommend the book, "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich."
