Jesus died for us so we can live. When he died on the cross, our sins went away at then, so at the beginning of our lives we have clean hearts! If he didn't die for us, we would be with the devil!

Because Jesus is the covenant mediator. He died to secure our future on earth. His death was the payment for the sins of those who believe in His name. We have all failed to love God and thus Jesus is our substituion. -Luke says Jesus died because of divine necessity as it is the foreordained plan of God in Act 2:22-24. -Matthew's perspective is that Jesus died because it was prophesized and because of Jesus' conflict with Jews. -Mark says Jesus died because people needed it. -The Pharisees and others involved in 2nd Temple Judaism(STJ) wanted Jesus to die because Jesus threatened them. Matthew 26:5 shows they thought he was winning the affection of the people. Also they thought Jesus was capable of leading a revolt and they would lose their nation (John 11:48) which leads the High Priest to say that it is better that one man die than the whole nation (John 11:50). Matthew 25:65 points out that STJ thought Jesus had committed blasphemy (as well as a law breaker-breaking Sabbath, and a false prophet) and thus was deserving of death. Also, Jesus' cleansing of the temple was a slap in the face of those in STJ. They were indignant. Matthew 21:23 shows them coming to Jesus to find out by whose authority He was doing these things. He was challenging their authority. -Disciples viewed Jesus' death as an act of STJ and the Romans (Acts 2:24). -Jesus' perspective is that this is God's will for in Matthew 26:42 He prays for the cup to pass but only if it is God's will. He drank from the cup and so it must have been God's will. Also this is the only way to redeem the world and so Jesus takes up the task.
