Matt Hardy has to do it because ratings with him have been really bad so there trying to make him a heel. Edge Dragged Jeff Hardy in a weakend state into the ring and onto the tope rope and pulled off one of his finishers the top rope 'Edgecution' (Top rope lifting faceplant/DDT) and Edge won By Pinfall. During the following Friday Night on Smakdown; Theordore Long came out and announced a Re-Match at the Upcoming 'Extreme Rules' PPV. He also said that the stipulations for that match where to be determind by the winner of that night's Main Event and Jeff Hardy beating Edge in that match Chose a ladder match. Proclaiming he would win and end their long term rivaly "...which stared in a Tables Ladders & Chairs match Over 10 years earlier was to also end in a ladder match with Jeff Hardy as the new World Heavyweight Champion."

Well as you already may know. Christian Cage was originally supposed to have returned at the Royal Rumble and cost Jeff the WWE title. However, since many fans knew that those would be the results, they turned it all around and made Matt turn on Jeff. Some of my friends are saying that they think that Matt was brainwashed by Edge to take out Jeff. Not me my friends. Also, WWE didn't use Christian yet because he hasn't signed a contract with them ever since leaving TNA.
