Mickey's first screen appearance was in the 1928 short film "Steamboat Willie," the first animated production with sound. He became one of the world's favorite characters and starred in 10 animated films that received Oscar nominations. One of them, "Lend a Paw," earned the 1942 Oscar for Best Animated Short Film.
