I don't believe he was a bad King. His reign was full with prosperity and tranquility, it just ended in betrayal.

*It depends on what work of Arthurian Legend you're referring to. In the Chretien romances, Arthur is portrayed as a "Do-Nothing-King" and is put in a negative light. For example, when he doesn't act on Guinevere being kidnapped in Lancelot.

According to Arthurian mythology, Morgan Le Fay is Arthurâ??s half sister. She blames Arthur, her half-brother, for actions his father took that ended her fatherâ??s life , essentially her childhood and left him on the throne she believed she deserved. She learned witchcraft, depending on the story either through Merlin or others and was hell-bent on the destruction of Arthur, his knights and Camelot.

She believed that the throne was rightfully hers, as she was older than her half-brother, Arthur and so she tricked him into sleeping with her, hereby concieving their son, Mordred. Morgan le Fey then believed that it was up to him to get the throne back for her, even if it meant he would die... don't you just LOVE motherly affection?!
