Why did Stalin kill his friends?

He killed his wife's friends because when she was going to a lesson no one used to talk to her but then a couple of ladies did. Then they where good friends. And then when Stalin found out he executed all of them because the had no right to so his wife called up the officers and asked where they were and she had a reply of telling them they where DEAD!!!

Stalin basically was a very paranoid man, especially since he led his wife, Nayda, to kill herself. So when he became powerful, he wanted to become even more powerful. He then felt that his friends could possibly stand in his way as they would know his weaknesses and stuff. Furthermore word of assassination attempts against himself were becoming more frequent. So because he was very greedy for power, he did not want anything to stop him, even his friends who knew him, as he viewed them as threats.

Stalin was afraid his own cabinet, or advisers, would turn against him as he rose to power because Stalin used powerful political figures to get him into office. As soon as he started his Dictatorship, he killed them to protect himself and "to rid Russia of corruption". Obviously, this just caused more problems
