How did Suzanne Collins come up with the book hunger games?

Apparently, Suzanne Collins, got the idea from channel Surfing. She was flicking through the channels and was tired. While surfing she saw a reality TV show where a whole bunch of kids were playing for something and then a war and the lines sort merged and she got the idea for The Hunger Games.

Then she was into the old times and there was an old book about how the people (one boy and one girl) get eatin by a beast, and she combinded them both and that is how she has came up with the book.

The Districts were defeated and as a reminder The Capitol installed The Games. The Districts were then forced to celebrate The Hunger Games and to treat it as a festivity and not as a punishment.

She is involved in politics and a rebellion just like the Ancient Roman. She also is from the Capitol, so she is wealthy and respected by the government. This compares to the Ancient Roman, who was, as stated earlier, a wealthy aritocrat.
