We do not have Shakesepare's school records so we have no reason to believe that he ever was pulled out of school early. If you are thinking it was to get married, think again. Grammar school finished long before the pupils reached the age of eighteen.

William Shakespeare was born in the town Stratford-upon-Avon and remained until 1585. At this time Shakespeare moved to London to work, and later retired back to Stratford-upon-Avon until his death. There was speculation at the time that Shakespeare moved because he was caught poaching deer, but there was never any evidence to support it.

Shakespeare didn't go to university probably because his parents didn't have to money to send him to university. "He did not go to either oxford or Cambridge, probably on account of his father's financial difficulties." (6 Lydowyk) His father was although given a coat of arms and made a county gentle man, John Shakespeare was made a gentleman because of his position in the community not because of his birth. Although William Shakespeare is assumed to have gone to grammar school in Stratford there are no records to prove how long he went, in some book's it says till he was 14. In Nicholas Rowe's bibliography he says that "He had bred him, 'tis true, for some time at a Free-School, where 'tis probable he aquir'd that little Latin he was Master of: But the narrowness of his Circumstances, and the want of his assistance at Home, forc'd his Father to withdraw him from thence, and unhappily prevented his further Proficiency in that Language" (Rowe, Nicholas)

In Shakespeare's day, there were few universities and few people attended them. It was not the social norm for people to go to university, as it almost is now-a-days.

We cannot say for certain that he did not finish school. It is possible that he did not because his father had trouble paying the school fees.
