∙ 13y agoThere have been many marches on Washington, but perhaps the most important was the Civil Rights Movement march led by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The march was to emphasize the need for civil rights, for enforcement of laws in support of rights, for fairness in commerce and education, and for peace in Vietnam and at home. It built support for the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act and their passage through Congress.
