The original release date was Nov 2008. The film makers decided to hold off until July of 2009, because there were already competing movies coming out around X-mas. Basically the greedy film makers wanted to have the "Summer Blockbuster" so they could make more money. I was thinking, "Oh Come ON!! It's Harry Potter for crying out loud!! We all want to see it!! They'll make a fortune no matter what!!" Too bad the don't consider the fans. I still want to see it, but the delay has thrown off my Harry Potter groove.

It didn't actually take six years to write the book, it took that length of time to find a publisher who was willing to print it. During those years, J.K. Rowling edited the first book many times.

There was a large gap between the release of the two books because Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is a very large novel and J.K. Rowling had a baby.
