  • Elizabeth had been sending her navy to the new world (america) to steal treasure off spanish ships
  • England held the Dutch, who were fighting Spain
  • England wanted to share the New worlds treasures with Spain
  • Philip wanted to turn England into a Catholic country and by doing that he needed to kill the Protestant ruler; Elizabeth.
