Czechoslavakia (now Czech republic and Slovakia), part of Poland came from Germany. Most of Poland, Finland, Romania came from Russia. Serbia changed to Yugoslavia. All those Middle-eastern countries (Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, turkey...) came from the Ottoman Empire. Lots of the modern day south-eastern European countries came from Austro-Hungary (like Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzergonia,...)
After World War 2 the British and French released their middle eastern colonies and they became nations that quite soon came to despise one another. A fine example being the many conflicts with Israel and many of its middle eastern neighbors. The nations in the middle east simply can't stand one another.

With the exception of Israel, all Middle Eastern countries are Muslim-majority.
