Most earned their wages much the same as before they were free; it's just that this time, they got payed and were their own 'Property', as opposed to a commodity owned by the plantation owner. They would probably do the same work, and in some cases, for the same person, as before.

They basically just started to slowly kill each other... haha im kiding they like did similar jobs like far work but the difference is now they got paid :)
