British immigrants came to America for many reasons, but most were seeking an opportunity for a better life than they had at home.

Very early in the history of Colonial American, some groups of immigrants came seeking religious liberty, or the opportunity to establish their own religious orthodoxy, separate from that of the Church of England, and to persecute those who did not conform to their views, just as they had been persecuted nonconformists in England.

Why did the immigrants leave their homelands and come to CANADA?

those immigrants were from Mexico, so they cross the border to the America for the "American dream" so then they were treated mostly like slaves and so that way they go north so some finish up in Canada. The person on top is a bafoon .... Are you saying that Ukrainians came from Mexico or the Germans .Canada is a country of multiculturalism (long word...) and allot of people come here for a better life .If your from Europe you are going to pay so much money just to come here (like we did). Yes there are Mexicans that illigaly cross the boarder but it does not mean they come to Canada.South America is big and has a lot of people that move here legally .

What did troubles did immigrants leave behind in their homelands?

At that period of time, an immigrant was able travel to a country, but he/she may not have enough money to bring the rest of the family. Babies, wives, and siblings would have to stay behind in cases where they cannot support themselves, and neither can the immigrant, the family would be separated for the rest of their lives. Sometimes, boats could not carry enough people for a whole family to come to America.
