The clothing was no different than before the Depression, but new clothes or coats were often an unaffordable luxury. Most people had to keep their clothes patched and their shoes resoled. Clothing factories were forced to use more durable materials, or switched to making other fabric items instead.
Women in the 1920's were known to wear cloche hats and flapper dresses. Men wore suits with lapels, cuffed trousers, and two-toned shoes. Babies were outfitted in romper, young girls wore dresses with cardigan sweaters, and young boys wore knickers.
