in AD 60, king Prasutagus died. Prasutagus was an allied king living under Roman law. Thinking he would save some of his kingdom for his wife and daughters, in his will, he gave the emperor Nero half of his kingdom and left the other half to his wife and daughters. However what Pratsutagus didn't understand was that women were not allowed to inherit more than 10% from a man under Roman law. When Boudicca went to claim her inheritance, she found that Rome had taken over the entire kingdom leaving her with the minimal. She raved at them, was whipped for it, and her daughters raped as punishment.

∙ 11y agoBoudicca started the revolt because her two daughters were raped in front of her and the Romans had her flogged. The revolt was to try and rid the Romans from their land because they had tried to take over after the death of Boudicca's husband.

∙ 13y agoThe root cause of Boudicca's revolt was the misunderstanding of her husband. The Iceni were living under Roman law at the death of her husband, Prasutagus. Now Prasutagus, thinking he was helping his wife and daughters, bequethed half of his kingdom to Caesar (Nero, at the time) and half to his wife. But, as said before, they were living under Roman Law and under Roman law a woman could not inherit from a husband or a father. Thus the Romans, according to law, were entitled to the entire kingdom. Obviously Boudicca thought differently, and when she confronted the Romans, demanding her rights, she was whipped and her daughters raped and this outraged the Iceni and the war started.

Finally she was intelligent , to men from those days she was more intelligent then women usually are. Including her husband Prasutagus died and she was the only royalty of the Celtic Iceni tribe to keep their independence of power and rule from the Romans.
