It wrecked the Weimar government which was established in 1919 in Germany to replace the imperial form of government.
The economic depression that resulted from the US Stock Market crash aggravated the existing economic depression in Germany that followed WWI, which was just the stepping stone that the Nazi's needed to promote their agenda by promising the German people relief.
Of course the German people didn't know that the Nazi's plan for economic recovery included stealing all property and money from the Jews, Poles, French, etc. and using slave labor to accomplish their economic goals.
Hitler was a master at using modern means of communication, especially giant rallies and speeches, to influence the opinion of the masses. Germany was economically depressed before the Great Depression became a world depression. Hitler used the depression to blame the Socialists, Communists, and Jews for causing the depression in Germany and from keeping true Germans from finding employment.
"Adolf Hitler, who might have faded out of history, was transformed by the circumstances attending the depression in Germany into a figure of Napoleonic proportions." -A History of the Modern World by R.R. Palmer and other authors (AP European History textbook).
Hitler promised work and said he would fix all of their problems and raise Germany back to it's former glory. The people believed he would do this and as he fixed the social econimic problems, the people loved him and trusted him. Hitler also helped the German economy by reopening the war industry. He hurt Germany by outlawing political dissent.
The great depression was a worldwide phenomenon. As in the US and elsewhere, in Germany, there was massive unemployment, with the number of unemployed reaching up to 6 million. The majority of those who were affected were the middle class. Hitler managed to gain support from them by capitalizing on their suffering: in a time of crisis, many Germans wanted someone to blame, and rather than looking at the actual reasons for what led to the Depression, it was easier to find one group who could be blamed for everything. Hitler exploited the public's anger and turned that anger against the Jews, who made up about 3% of the population and were in no way responsible for the Depression. I enclose a link to a good explanation of what really caused the Depression in Germany and how Hitler used it to his advantage.
because the people were sick and tired of the goverment issues in berlin and they were desperate for someone to fix it
