In around the 1960's relations between Russia and the Unite States began to get a little tense. Once the Russians began sending Cuba nuclear weapons which were within reach of most of America, America sent out to Cuba forcing them to give the weapons back to Russia. This is known as the Cuban Missile Crisis. After this the United States would not have anything to do with Cuba. This is why Cuban cars are the mainly still the same style as the old 1950's American Style cars as well as you cannot fly to Cuba from the United States.

What is the embargo of Cuba?

the embargo was confided into law in 1992 with the stated purpose of maintaining sanctions on Cuba so long as the Cuban government continues to refuse to move toward "democratization and greater respect for human rights so pretty much because Cuba is a communist country america refused trade because the didn't approve of it... america tried one time to relieve Cuba from communism and failed terribly lol.. so they didn't want anything to do with them... if Cuba would trade communism for democracy then america will lift the embargo act and life would be happy :) ---- jessie <3
