Germany invaded Poland, France, the Low Countries, Scandinavia, the Balkans, Greece, Russia, and North Africa. It attacked Britain by air. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, by air and invaded China, the Philippines, Hong Kong, the Dutch East Indies, New Guinea, Burma, and the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. It occupied French Indo-China after France's surrender to Germany.

∙ 8y agoAmerica tried to stay out of the war for as long as it could but was forced into the was by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. The attack killed over 3,000 marines, soldiers, and sailors so Congress declared war on Japan and a few weeks later declared war on Germany so that The U.S. could help Britain and the Soviet Union.
