How did McFly the band get their name?

Tom Fletcher used to write songs for busted along with James bourne and was asked to do the auditions for a new band called B, this is when Danny Jones came thinking that the band was and instrumental band came to the auditions, later that day Tom Fletcher asked Danny Jones to come and write songs with him and james,after busted came to and end Danny and tom started collaborating for their own band later on they moved to London for 2 months and Harry Judd and Dougie Poynter turned up at the same audition after seeing an add in NME magazine they were both accepted into the band and the name Mcfly was made up after a character called Marty Mcfly from the Back to the future Trilogy.

He then became friends with the other Busted boys, James Bourne especially and then auditioned for McFly with Danny Jones!

Tom tried out for Busted but didn't get in, Charlie did instead. The record label liked him though and decided to form a new band. They picked Danny from auditions and he and Tom wrote most of Room on the Third Floor together before holding auditions for a drummer and bassist.

Tom Fletcher, the singer and guitarist, tried out for Busted. A band that a record company were trying to get together in 2003. Unfortunately Tom didn't make the band but the record company saw the talent and told him that a record deal was a sure thing if he got a band together. Tom, with no job at the time, was spending time with the band Busted and at the record label a lot, so the label gave him the job of recording the auditions for another boy-band that was forming called 'V'. This was when Danny Jones met Tom Fletcher, he was trying out for V, realised he was definitely not in the right place with his guitar while the rest of the people at the audition were stretching and warming up for dance routines. Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher then started working and writing together, making up most of McFLY's first album, Room on the Third Floor. The record company saw the songs and knew that with the talent of Tom and Danny that it would be a successful band. So they held auditions and this was when, drummer, Harry Judd and bassist, Dougie Poynter became the last two members of the band. Together they wrote and twearked the songs on the first album. The record company backed them and when Busted - who they were friends with - were going on tour in 2004, the 'FLY lads were only too happy to be their support act. They rose to fame quickly, gaining most of Busted's teenage fans and even some older, but dedicated fans which grew with them for five years. The music is slightly more edgier now, compared to the first album, but you can see how the boys have matured over time and are now even travelling across Europe, Japan, Australia and Brazil to where dedicated fans lie.
