they thought that the articles of confederation weren't suffice to regulate interstate commerce, national currency, foreign affairs and such that's what the federal gov't was intended to do. But the anti federalists were worried that a federal gov't would become too large and become a national gov't which is what we bascilly have now. I guess the anti-federalists' fears did happen.
