∙ 12y agothe titanic hit the ice berg because the look outs had no way from seeing the ice because they only could see eye distance. it was to late before the lookouts saw the ice because titanic was heading straight for it when it hit titanic on the starboard side.
The cause of the titanic hitting the iceberg was that the front 5 compartments filled up with water. The large ship could stay a float with the first 4 compartments filled with water.
