Why did they want to attack the twin towers on 911?

Essentially, he was unhappy with US presence in the Middle East. He wanted American troops out in order to accomplish Al-Qaeda's primary goal of establishing Islamic states in countries in the Middle East and throughout. He hoped that by attacking Americans, he would impose such high costs that our citizens would demand retreat from the area. What he did not count on was the American spirit. Now he is dead.

In lamen's terms, he was crazy and wanted to take over the world. But in order to do that, he would have to get past the US, and that's not going to happen.

People attacked on 9/11 because they thought the world was unfair, and decided to take it out on other people. 2698 people died. The attack was also against the economic power of the world which was housed in the twin towers. Al Qaeda felt it was to much power for one country to hold over the world. They also attacked the Pentagon (symbol of military power) and were planning on other American symbols because in the world, America is represented as the most powerful and in control of the world. It is sad that they chose violence over information. The violence did not show what their personal views were but what violence they were capable of doing. I would think that most people have open minds and would have listened to their disagreement with the current running of the financial world. Now it is just falling on deaf ears since all they did was show hate.

The Twin Towers housed a significant source of financial offices which impacted countries around the world when they were destroyed. It also had employees from a number of countries. Based upon most recent research, members from 85 countries died in the attack.
