We (Americans) had a revolutionary war because of we were tired of being pretty much pushed arounded and roled by Great Britain. This war was vital to our countries history, without this war, who knows. We could still be run by England or Another Country. One thing is for sure, if we didn't have this war, and free and safe America would not here. But our founding fathers got together and the wrote the Declaration of Independence which was a letter to King George III that stated that America was separating from Brittian and was becomeing a free nation. In the kings fury, he declared war on the colonies, not knowing what he was getting himself into...

It was called "revolutionary" because of all the revolutionary changes that came from it. The idea of democracy was reintroduced in the colonies in a time when monarchy was prevalent. A weak colony had challenged the greatest power in the world at that time - Great Britain. And they actually won emerging as a rapidly growing world power. The ideas and victory that the Americans had created for themselves also influenced other regions of the world like France in the French Revolution.

The reason why the Revolutionary War is called the first Civil War is because British was the mother country of America, so America was fighing its own mother country. Civil means between a country, and America and Britain were some what of a country together though not after America gained freedom. They're may have been more civil wars in my opinion, but whatever.

Because America revolted against Great Britain (taxation without representation, mainly), and they were fighting for the freedom to be self-governing, with certain inalienable rights.
