Schools were segregated in the mid to late 1800s/early to mid 1900s becauase, well almost everything was segregated. laws were passed that whites had to be separated [segregated] from blacks. The supreme court cas in 1896, plessy v. fergusib was a significant case that upheld the constitutionality of racial segregation by ruling that separate facilties for different races were legal, as long as those facilties were equal to one another. this case prvided a legal justification for racial segregation for nearly 60 years until it was overturned by the case Brown v. Board of education in 1954. ~hope that helps.~ krista xx

Segregation, segregation, segregation, and segregation
Segregation that is imposed by a law !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Segregation started because many white Americans at the time felt that they were superior to blacks. The did not want to live with them, work with them, or share facilities such as bathrooms, restaurants and schools with them.
segregation disagreed with brown v. board of education........apex :)
he wanted to achieve segregation and give everybody their respect andeqaul rights
John F Kennedy had his fair share in helping deal with segregation. He helped Southern schools in the USA desegregate as they ignored judgements. Also including major sports teams as well which didn't want to be desegregated. Segregation in public places, buses, restaurants etc. remained.
